Does it really work?
Yes. All compasses, levels, thermometers and plumb bobs are functional. The rulers work, but it would be hard to use them for accurate measurements on anything that is more than 1" long as they aren't straight. They are a useful tool for differentiating between 1/2" and 9/16".

How big is it?
The measurements of everything are listed on the website. Let us know if we missed something. The small compass is about the size of a dime. The Original Compass is about the size of a nickel.

How long will it take to get?
We usually ship website orders within a week. If we have to make your piece for you it might take up to 3 weeks; although that is not very common, we are always out of something. If it is going to take awhile, we will email you and let you know. Rings, plumb bobs, bulls eye pieces and diamond dust pieces might take a little longer, but not always.

Can I get it gift wrapped?
Every piece we mail out comes packaged in a little gift box. If you would like a blank gift card enclosed, let us know in the special instructions section. If you are having us mail your gift directly to the recipient and would like us to include a short hand written note, let us know that too.

Can I rush it?
If we have it made then we can get it out right away, if we have the parts we can make it in a few days. If you need something as a gift and time is urgent, then let us know in the comments and we will do our best to help you out. Please note that we are actual people and everything is made by hand. We generally do not have a large stockpile of inventory. Therefore, please don't place an order on Friday afternoon and expect it to go out that same day. UPS picks up at 3pm EST. If we have the piece you want and receive your order by 12 NOON EST we will do out durndest to get it out that same day.

My country isn't among the choices for shipping?
We're sorry. Email us and we will add it right away!

Why does shipping cost so much?
Gas prices affect everything these days. We use UPS because we find them to be the quickest, the most reliable and have an excellent tracking service, they are however not the cheapest especially when shipping to residential addresses. We think that in the end, its better to pay a little bit more then to not get your package at all and have to spend the time tracking it down. If you would really prefer the post office then please write it in the special instructions section.

How long will it take to get to me?
Shipping via UPS usually gets to most East Coast locations in a few days, to the Midwest in 3 to 4, and the West Coast in about 5 or 6. Orders sent to Europe, Australia and Canada through the US Postal Service take a week to 10 days.

I have a problem. I don't like it. I don't want it.
Send us an email and we will do our best to make you happy. An actual person will read your email, there is nothing automated over here.

We might have what you ordered in a size not listed on the website. You can exchange your piece for something else or we will refund your money for the piece (sorry not the shipping) either to your credit card or paypal account. Return it within 3 weeks of purchase and include the receipt if possible.

My compass isn't working.
If you find yourself with a compass piece that no longer points north, it might have come in contact with a magnetic field. If you bought your compass piece within the past year, we will happily replace the compass for you. Please include $5.00 for shipping it back to you and provide your purchase receipt if possible. If your compass piece is over 12 months old, send it back and for just $15.00 we will replace it with a new one that points north.

My level went clear!
We have discontinued using the tiny blue, medium blue and large green levels because they proved to not be UV stable and faded when exposed to sunlight. If you send us back your clear level piece we would be more than happy to replace the level with a brand new one. If you don't mind, we will use a UV stable tiny green, medium green or large yellow level. If you'd rather have a tiny blue, medium blue or large green we will replace those for as long as we have them in stock but we can't guarantee that they will not fade again. Please specify what color your piece was and what color you want it replaced with. Putting $5- in the box to cover the cost of return shipping always makes us happier about re-juicing the levels.

What about using blue and red levels?
We used blue levels in our tiny and medium level pieces and they looked great, but we found that the color was not UV stable and faded to clear when exposed to sunlight. We have a few levels left in stock that we could make for a special order but we guarantee that they won't keep their fun blue color forever.

Can I get something engraved?
For engraving we recommend the Original Compass Necklace (24" or 30" chain). We would put the engraving around the edge on the back. We have done this before and it looks very good there. The cost for hand engraving is $3 per letter and $12 to cover the shipping to and from the engraver. He can do block letters or script. It will take an extra 2 to 3 weeks.

Do you give discounts for large orders?
It depends really, email us and let us know what you are interested in.

Do you wholesale?
Yes we do. Give us a call and let us know what kind of store you have and where you are located. At the moment we are not extending ourselves to any more online stores.

What music do you listen to over there in your studio?
Okay, no one has asked us this yet, but we'll show you anyway. We are quite eclectic. Check out our last fm.

What do you do at lunch?
We're so glad you asked. Every day, we try to "learn something at lunch". We play online quizzes. Sometimes the subject is gemology, sometimes it is movie trivia, but mostly its geography. To improve our understanding, we went so far as to put an 8' by 14' wall mural map of the world in the studio. It is a fantastic resource and a can be a bit mesmerizing.
